It’s Your Ego, Is It A Problem?

I have heard that it is good to have an ego somehow it saves your life. Being in fear and deciding on fight or flight can save your life, I guess. What is unfortunate is the ego tends to rule in many more situations. Is it holding you back in your business or life?  Well, what exactly is the ego? Some think it is those who think highly of themselves.

From what I have seen, the ego tends to be the thought process that holds you in fear, jealousy, and is the voice that tends to tell you that you are wrong all the time. According to your ego, you cannot seem to get anything right. Your ego tends to repeat the negative nonsense like a record that skips and cannot move on. Forget yourself for one moment, have you ever met someone who no matter what you say they come back with a negative thought and reflect it back onto you as if the thought came from you. You just don’t like me or you think I am annoying. (Even though the thought has never crossed your mind) Frustrating isn’t it?

Have you ever thought that those negative thoughts are not your nature? It is true, our nature of who we really are is more like the sound of cheerleaders. Our true nature will tell you how awesome you are and how important your work is. Your nature of your being will have you see others in a positive and kind way.  The nature of you is humble, generous and sweet to others. Your ego tends to be jealous, fearful and worries about what others think. Your ego second guesses your ideas ALL the time.

So if egotistical is a person who thinks highly of themselves, what is the word for the person who self sabotages themselves with negative thoughts. The point is that the focus is still on I, is it not?

Well, I would love to give you the answer to curing the negative ego, but you probably already know. The more you power in the positive thoughts, the ego tends to show up less and less. One day you will find yourself soulful about your work and your staff. You will be in a state of gratitude. Gratitude suffocates ego at its core.

So, how can it sabotage your business? When your thoughts are more in line with ego vs. your nature, you tend to be a bit more argumentative and defensive in conversation. You may not be listening closely to your staff or clients and what it is they may need. You worry about what others think about your quality of work or about your personality.

When you work in line with your nature, you can put YOU aside and hear as well as value each word your clients and staff say. You will honor each person and transaction. When in line with your nature, you will become boldly self expressed with a hunger to help others. It changes to the core, the way you communicate. So, I will say it out loud. Get over yourself, your work is about others and what you have to offer. It is about the work and the core message you would like to convey.

I am grateful you let me share with you at this very moment. Kick the thought around and land one in the net with the true nature of you.  After all, you are simply AWESOME!
