Why did I go?
Having taken a leap of faith to start my own consulting practice two years ago, I planted seeds, developed an offering, and had gone through my nest egg. I am a software developer who is starting a new business for the first time in my life. It is a daunting task just to think about it and I needed some insight into the process of how to approach this. I had been introduced to Michael Port's work via my business partner Eric and when Michael's small group event was announced, we both signed up.
I was hoping to get some type of roadmap or plan or template from which I could use to contribute towards our business goal. Michael is a real person. I was a bit wary of getting involved with a self-proclaimed guru type, but within minutes, I realized that this is definitely not who Michael is. He is a friendly and able teacher: easily approachable, warmly personable and extremely intelligent and knowledgeable. He is well read and is constantly pointing us to other sources of info and inspiration, many of which he has used in his own professional growth. His experiences have spanned many fields and he is able to bring pieces of all of them together into his mentoring. He constantly challenged us, asking questions of us and forcing us to think.
